I will think before speaking, love before hating, work harder than ever before for my family.
I will not let my nerves take over and consume me with fear of the unknown. I will give freely and without expecting anything in return. I will finally stick to that diet I keep saying I'm going to start, next Monday.

Today our new President takes office. The country has steadily gone to shit for a while now. I know I've landed flat on my butt, and not by choice, more than once in this lifetime. It's going to take all of us to turn it around. Every little bit counts.

I Still Love Him ~ !

When I was 13 years old and very easily infatuated with the new feelings growing inside that come with that awakening of age, my mom and dad took me to my first live concert. I'd been listening to his music for what seemed like my whole life. I remember clearly, grabbing my moms hand as we forged our way through the massive crowd to our destination. If I remember clearly, we were in something like the 11Th row right in the middle of the stage. (compliments of having parents working at a radio station)
I remember the pounding of my heart, and the lightness of my head, that I was actually going to see him, right there in front of me. We made our way to our seats, and my excitement grew until I felt like I could burst. Then, without warning, the lights went down, the music started, in the fog I saw him as he started walking right up to ME it seemed. And the next thing I know, my mom is picking me up off the floor, fanning my face, asking me if I was all right, did you hit your head?!
I had passed out at the sight of him, just like a 13 year old little girl overcome with her first love.

My choices in music have always been slightly directed towards certain rhythms and melodies my struggling ears would allow. I found his music and his voice so captivating and easy for me to listen too. I would lay in the grass, my eyes closed , feeling the warmth of the sun on my face, and the breeze of summer encompass my little world out in the backyard of our 300 + acre farm.
I'd listen to his music with my sister, and if I couldn't make out a word, she was there to fill me in and be my ears. A few days ago while I was cleaning up in my office with my back to the TV playing in the background, I realized I recognized a song playing on TV without even knowing.

***just a little side note: a few years later, when I was around 15, I met my man in person (again thanks to mama) I shook his hand, he signed my Calendar, we had our picture taken together, and yes, mom told him about my fainting love for him.
