High School Senior Models 2010 ~ Kristina

High School Senior Kristina goes to Eastland Fairfield Career Center to study Finance.
Yep, she's a super smart girl who is all country at heart.

Kristina contacted me at Jeannie Cochran Photography when she saw some of my other Senior Images on Myspace and she just knew she wanted ME to do her Senior Portraits too.

Kristina chose to have her session take place at the Awesome Innisfree Horse Farm in Canal Winchester, Ohio.

You can choose a location of your own, or one of several locations already scouted by Jeannie.

There are soooo many beautiful images I wish I could show them all. But here are a few of my faves....now back to working on products.

Make sure you ask Kristina when you see her at school, how to - get 25 % OFF - YOUR - Senior Session Fees.

Maternity ~ Shelley's Expecting

I've been photography Shelley and her family for years now. I'm so excited for her to be welcoming baby number 3 any day now. I cranked this session out in a record time of just under 30 minutes since Shelley had to be somewhere else that night, but was nervous if we didn't get the session done...we were not going to be able to do it later. Yep, she's that close now to delivering.
Shelley is the owner of The Innisfree Horse Farm in Canal Winchester. In between having babies, she boards horses, trains them for their owners, and gives awesome riding lessons along with running around to various horse shows of her students. I couldn't ask for a better friend and mentor when it comes to sharing my passion for Horses.
If your looking for something to do this summer, go on out and check out Shelley's Farm. You can contact her HERE.
and stay tuned right here folks to meet her newest family member...coming soon!

I wanted an "antique" feel to these first images with her horses in the field.

I got some new actions. Blog boards from MCP Actions. I played with them for this blog post. It's challenging to choose images to fit, but I love the way it came out.

Here are a few from our day.
*** Katie sent me off with the Groom and His Men for some Portraits. True Story, I came thiiiiisssss close to falling off the bridge into the creek, thank goodness I have great balance :o) ! ***

Family Time with Mom & Dad Cochran :o)

This past week we were able to spend some much needed quality time with Eddie's Parents from Alabama. It's amazing how much their love and support has lifted our spirits.
They are the most Loving people and Eddie told me he plans on treating me with as much love and tenderness in our old age as his parents display for each other.

The kids LOVE getting spoiled rotten with grandma and grandpa time. Especially the trip to Dairy Queen where I splurged on my beloved ice cream....again!
I had a wonderful time getting to hear all about Eddie's childhood antics and blunders :o)
Folks, these are the kind of Parents everyone should have!

Mom and Dad, we miss you already and can't wait to see you again.
(check your email, these images will be there for you)

July Blog Blast

Blog Update:

So I know I've been pretty quiet on this end. I've been dealing with a tremendous amount of personal and business strain. There are lots of changes coming to Jeannie Cochran Photography. I've buried myself in a new marketing marathon and I'm hitting the ground running!
We have a new puppy :o) We've named him "Willie" (from the Goonies, one eyed willie). He had a rough start, but is now healthy and a Firecracker!

Are you enjoying your summer? We sure are, but it’s not slow and lazy, we’re as busy as ever.

We want to let you know about an exciting new promotion we’re staging this fall.
It’s our Santa Charity Event. We supply you with gorgeous holiday portraits and you help us raise funds for charity.
Portrait packages for Santa Charity are sold at a special discounted price, and all packages include one 8x10, one 5x7 and four wallets. The first package is $100, if you purchase a second it’s $75, and a third will be $25. Fifty dollars from each first package purchased goes directly to Children’s Hospital.
The beautiful sets that will be created for the Santa Charity are Country Christmas, Formal Christmas, and Winter Wonderland.
Our Santa Charity Event is scheduled for November 5th, 6th and 7th. We anticipate this will be a very popular promotion, and we’re giving you the opportunity to schedule your appointment now while there’s still time available on our schedule.

We’re hosting a party! A Facebook party!
More and more we’re connecting through social media, so why not look your best to all your old and new online friends? Get some friends together and join the fun at Jeannie Cochran Photography for our weekly Facebook Fête. Every Wednesday/Thursday/Friday evening, Jeannie hosts a Facebook Fête. Come and enjoy a welcome break from your hectic week. We’ll treat you to a cold beverage and a tasty treat while you take a moment to relax and be pampered.
For only $25, you’ll get an image you’d be proud to share on the World Wide Web. Bring a friend or two and you’ll each get an image for $12.50. The portrait session will last 10 minutes, and you’ll have a choice of backgrounds to create a casual, personality-driven image.
A few days after your portrait’s taken, the image will be uploaded to the Jeannie Cochran Photography Facebook Fête album, and we’ll email you a link so you can tag yourself and drag the image to your desktop to use on your social networking or e-dating sites.

We want you to be the first to know about our 48-Hour-the-more-you-spend-the-more-you-save sale!
Purchase a $75 certificate on August 1st and August 2nd , and receive an additional $25 gift certificate.
The more certificates you buy, the more money you save on everything from portrait sessions, prints, albums, frames, and accessories. There is no limit to how many certificates you may purchase, but the certificates must be purchased August 1st and 2nd .

Does your high school son or daughter participate in the school musical? If so, we want you to know about how we partner with local schools to support the arts.
We’re excited to tell you that we initiated a program to highlight the accomplishments of local drama students. In addition to creating several community posters, we take headshots of the kids involved in the production. Your school may use those images, free of charge, in their program guide.
If you’re curious about what’s in it for us, other than the satisfaction of supporting and encouraging young talent, running programs like this creates awareness of our studio, and honestly, we hope many of those kids and their families will think of us when they have their senior portraits taken or when they need to update their family portrait.
So please pass on word of this partnership to your local high school drama department. We would love to highlight the young talent in our community.

And last but not least, get ready for the exciting premier of our new launch.
Boudoir Intimates by Jeannie. I have a handful of girls who are helping me out with this launch. And a special shout out to the ever fabulous Boudoir Divas for creating such a kick-ass workshop in a book to guide the way.
I’m so excited and THANKS to those who are brave enough to Boudoir with me.
I’ll also be hosting a “Pin-Up” Party the first week of August. I’ll email you girls the exact date. Come join me for some fun, laughter and a bit of wine …girls only night.

Caden | in the Studio

Caden came in with his Mom for a session as a gift to his daddy.
Daddy doesn't know it yet so we'll keep these images on the down low for now.
He's four, and when he grows up he's got big plans to be just like DAD.
They love to spend time together doing all the things boys do, Fishing, Hunting, Riding and Playing.

Father's Day is June 21st this year. Still time to get sessions done in time for a perfect gift for Dad.
Here's a sneek peek for Caden's Mom.

Shelley's Maternity Shoot ...part 1

First up for a busy busy week...Shelley's expecting baby number 3! She is 26 weeks pregnant here and there is a reason she wanted to shoot early. Her kids come earlier and earlier and she just didn't want to miss the shoot, in case baby # 3 decides to come even earlier.
I know what the baby is :o) (a boy or girl ) but I'm not telling, you'll have to watch the blog for Newborn pictures.
Shelley is a longtime friend of mine, an awesome horse trainer, breeder, and lesson giver. She gives her time openly to all those who share her passion....ME!
I also did her last maternity session.
You may know Shelley as the owner of Innisfree Horse Farm, where we fullfill our horse fix as often as we can.
I also use the farm as a location for Family Portraits and Senior Sessions.

Here a few of my faves......

isn't this just B E A U T I F U L

12 easy ways NOT to succeed as a new professional photographer

April Fools!

PP presents an easy to follow tutorial.

"12 easy ways NOT to succeed in business as a new professional photographer".

12 easy ways NOT to succeed in business as a new professional photographer - http://www.thephotographybiz.com/

Follow these tips and you’ll be flipping burgers inside 48 months.
Contracts and business

1) Don’t have any terms and conditions. You’re a photographer, you’re not actually running a money-making business are you?

2) Don’t discuss and agree fees and a contract before shooting the job. You never bothered finding out how much you were going to get paid and how long you had to work each week when you were in employment. Why start now?

3) Don’t have a clue about your copyright. That way you won’t be offended when people try to grab it.

4) Do charge for your photography by the hour. That worked really well when you were an employee didn’t it? No point in charging a fee for your product instead of the time it takes to make it - you don’t see successful companies doing that sort of thing do you?

Websites
5) Do have a website that lists your ’specialities’ as every style of photography imaginable - even though you’re not really very good at any of them if you’re honest.

6) Do list your gear on your “about me” page. I’m sure you won’t get that £10k ad job unless you tell everyone about the entire contents of your camera bag (and don’t forget to list who makes your camera bag too).

7) Do show images on your website in simulated frames (wood, metal etc). Nothing says “I’m a professional” more than that.

8) Don’t have any good examples of prior commissioned work on your website. Pssst… nobody knows you didn’t actually shoot that can of Heinz beans for money and you just got it out of your cupboard to make it look like somebody paid you to do it.
Making images

9) Don’t bring more than one camera body or lens to a shoot. Nothing ever goes wrong, these things are so reliable nowadays.

10) Don’t bother using any lighting on location shoots. Just push the ISO on your new baby to 6400. That’ll be fine after a bit of Noise Ninja and curves in Photoshop. Nobody will ever notice.

11) Don’t bother shooting RAW. RAW is for purists. You’re a pro - you get it right in the camera. You don’t need to adjust anything after the shoot. All these retouchers have got it so wrong.

12) Don’t bother with colour management or profiles or any of that hocus-pocus. It looks good on your monitor so it should look good on everyone else’s right?

happy birthday to my baby girl

Hold on to what is good,
even if it's a handful of earth.
Hold on to what you believe,
even if it's a tree that stands by itself.
Hold on to what you must do,
even if it's a long way from here.
Hold on to your life,
even if it's easier to let go.
Hold on to my hand,
even if I've gone away from you.

warm breezes anyone?

So I'm counting down the days until I can venture outside again without freezing my buns off.
It's been a long winter I'm ready to get out and about.
We've had some sickness going through the house, seems like one kid after another, including myself. Eddie never seems to get sick, I swear that man pushes on like the energizer bunny on steroids.
It's the end of the month so I'd thought I'd share a bit of our home flavor. Here's some images of Damian being bored and a brilliant little booger at the same time.
Sean, last week, camping out in his room working on a math project.
When I edited these images the song "Let me be myself", from 3 Doors Down, runs through my head. I never ever get tired of watching my kids grow and how I always encourage them to don't follow the pack, don't be afraid to be yourself.

Attention High School Seniors!!!

I have been hard at work keeping my mind occupied with several projects I have going on right now. I promise I'm going to blog more. I am still trying to get out of my winter time funk.
I have been in a designing mode, still learning new techniques every day. Here's one I made tonight for my new promotion I have going on.
I have been working with a graphic designer and trying out some logo ideas on my own. I'll share soon.
I have been itching to shoot, but hiding from the cold. The kids finally made it to bible study/horse club last weekend, only to vote to stay inside today.

oh...and happy valentines day!
